I need more than 3 ports!
We designed ECLIPSE to be your go-to charging station for the devices you charge on a daily basis. After some market research, we realized that the average person owns 6 devices, but only charges 2 or 3 devices on a daily basis. By going with 3 USB ports instead of 4 or 5, ECLIPSE covers a large portion of everyday users and remains small enough to be unobtrusive and work well in an environment like your nightstand. Our aim is to take something that no one likes to look at or deal with, a power strip and a mess of cables on the floor, and turn it into a useful design object you’re happy to show on your nightstand, in your living room, or office. How do I wind / unwind cables with ECLIPSE?
Cables are wound in and out of ECLIPSE manually. Have you ever wrapped your headphones around your iPod or phone? Wrapping cables back into ECLIPSE is a very similar and familiar motion. We did have quite a few discussions in the initial design phases about adding a spring-loaded rolling/unrolling mechanism, but those components are unreliable and often break, leaving you with a useless product. Can ECLIPSE power my USB-C Laptop?
Although not specifically designed for charging USB-C-powered laptops, ECLIPSE will be able to give a full 15W to a USB-C powered computer. For a 29W MacBook 12”, for example, this means that it would charge at about half the speed compared to a 29W charger. That’s fine if you’re charging overnight, or constantly plugged in while you work, but in terms of a power source for a high-wattage device like a USB-C computer while it’s in heavy use, ECLIPSE wasn’t designed for that - it was designed for neat and tangle-free charging for everyday devices like your smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, action camera, etc. Regarding the recently announced MacBook Pro, from our initial estimates, ECLIPSE will not have enough power to charge the computer while it’s in use. If you’re using ECLIPSE to charge your MacBook Pro overnight, you just have to keep in mind that it will charge slower than with the power brick included with the MacBook Pro. For MacBook Pro 13” with a 61W power source, ECLIPSE will charge at about 25% speed compared to the included power brick. Is ECLIPSE a Wireless Charging station?
ECLIPSE itself does not have a wireless charging coil inside, but it can definitely power wireless charging pads that are USB-A powered. We have been waiting for wireless charging to become the norm for years now, but the reality is, we’re still very much in the cable era. Current technologies require a charging mat or puck that still needs a USB cable to be plugged into a power source. The charging speed is slower, and you can’t comfortably use your mobile device while it charges because it needs direct contact with the mat. Furthermore, there are different standards competing with each other (Qi, PMA, etc.) making this market still really niche. We decided that it was not worth increasing the total price and size of ECLIPSE by adding a wireless charging coil that would only benefit a limited number of users. Will ECLIPSE have all the required safety certifications?

Is the power cable detachable?
We did consider making the power cable removable, but the internal components that were required made the product bigger than what you see today. We also would have had to remove the transformer from within the unit to on the power cable itself. There is a cable “belt” that is included on the power cord itself which helps keep that cable neat as well. You’ll see it if you look closely in the video! How do I set up ECLIPSE, and how easy is it to remove cables from ECLIPSE?
Step 1: Twist the top of the ECLIPSE unit and remove it - you are now greeted with the 3 USB ports at the base of ECLIPSE. Step 2: Plug in all three of your USB Cables at the base Step 3: Take the top and twist it back onto ECLIPSE’s base. Step 4: Feed the three cables into ECLIPSE’s “fishbone” cable management structure, which is incorporated in the top. Wrap them up. (Each cable will be in their own channel) Step 5: Tuck in the connector heads into ECLIPSE’s cable management system, and you’re good to close the unit. ECLIPSE was designed for the cables you use the most, as a semi-permanent charging station. In order to unplug the USBs, you will need to unwind the three cables out of the “fishbone” structure that keeps the cables neat and organized so that you can access the 3 USB ports at the base. Can my Apple Watch charging puck fit inside ECLIPSE?
ECLIPSE is compatible with the Apple Watch charging puck, but the puck itself will not fit inside the ECLIPSE unit (increasing the dimensions to allow for this would make the product a lot taller). That being said, you can leave just a few inches of cable out and leave the charging puck on top of the ECLIPSE’s wooden top. It actually makes for a nice docking station! What do shipping fees cover? Why does my shipping cost increase when I buy more than 1 ECLIPSE?
We are dedicated to making the shipping experience as seamless as possible for our backers. Our shipping fees include the cost of shipping, tax, and import duty, so essentially, you’re getting ECLIPSE shipped straight from production to your doorstep without needing to deal with international shipping customs - we handle that so you don’t have to :) Shipping costs are calculated by size and weight, and import fees are calculated by $ value of the shipment,so naturally, more units cost more to ship. We’re in touch with shipping partners around the world to ensure we give the best service to our backers in every region. If the product is shipped to your country from another country rather than re-distributed from within your home country, the shipment will be “DDP”, which means that we pay the tax and duty ahead of time. Unfortunately, we have no control over which email address receives Kickstarter notifications. It’s all dependent on the email address you use on Kickstarter, which you used to back the project. How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
